Have you ever walked into a room with the feeling you were being drawn in and felt very comfortable, or
sat in an unfamiliar office and felt totally at ease? Or maybe you've had the opposite experience of
feeling uneasy at someone's house and couldn't explain why. What appears to be a mystery, can be
explained through the science of Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Shway), the ancient Chinese study of the
relationship between humanity and the nature of the Earth. It is described as "an art at the very pinnacle
of the social, cultural, and scientific achievements of Chinese civilization. Yet at the same time,
it deals with the common experience of all humanity as we learn how best to live on this earth-our common
home in space." There are various methods applied in Feng Shui, but the basic principles and theories
have endured over 3,000 years in the Far East and are now finding an increasing popularity in the rest of
the world. Though there are many facets to the art of Feng Shui, it's main purpose is to create
harmonious surroundings which bring happiness, prosperity and good health to all.
The words Feng Shui literally mean wind/water and refer to the dynamic shaping of these elements upon our
landscape.
The Chinese believe that there is a life-giving energy (Ch'i) that flows through our bodies and surrounds
us. We've heard it explained in many ways in the Western World. It was the great magnetic...Force... in
the Star Wars Trilogy. We see it in radio sound waves and static electricity, etc. People from all
walks of life contemplate the wonders of this powerful hidden and mysterious force. At the heart of Feng
Shui is the desire to acknowledge the power of the natural world and to live in harmony with it and be
aware of its constant changes, such that you can adjust to improve the quality of your life.
Yin/Yang, the five elements (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal with their three cycles productive,
dominant & reductive), the compass directions, the Solar System and the Earth. Feng Shui is based on a
set of theories and calculations derived from the I -Ching. This includes an understanding and
application of the principles involved, taking into account the relationship between our environment and
the earths' magnetic force field.
"A Feng Shui practitioner using a Lo-Pan (compass) determines the energy characteristics of a building
and its resultant effects on the occupants. Calculations are done according to the basic principles,
then remedies are prescribed where necessary to balance the energy for positive effect." Advice will be
given on the placement of furniture, lighting, colors and other elements. For a new homebuilder, a Feng
Shui consultant can offer advice as to the best location and the best direction for their home to face.
Also, recommendations can be given on which directions are best for sleeping, working & optimizing energy
and creativity. Businesses can promote prosperity with advice learned from a Feng Shui practitioner.
Homeowners, Contractors, Realtors, Interior Decorators, Office Managers, Architects, Small Businesses,
Corporations, Restaurants, Home Office Entrepreneurs, and many more...virtually everyone!
